Azure Data Engineer

Job Description

Hiire is supporting an international technology-driven organization in the search for a Data Engineer to join a large-scale data and analytics initiative based in Lisbon.

This is an opportunity to work on modern cloud-native data platforms focused on building robust and sustainable data solutions using Azure technologies. You’ll contribute to scalable data architectures, analytics enablement, and platform evolution within a highly collaborative and engineering-focused environment.

The team is focused on enabling data-driven decision-making through scalable processing, storage, and analytics solutions integrated across multiple Azure services.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Designing and implementing scalable Data Pipelines, Data Storage, and Data Processing solutions

  • Managing Data Integration and Storage architectures

  • Modelling data and handling ETL/ELT processes and Data Warehousing solutions

  • Developing and maintaining modern data architectures with focus on scalability, security, and availability

  • Managing cloud-based data services, particularly within Azure ecosystems

  • Supporting and implementing Data Governance practices and standards

  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering and analytics teams to improve platform reliability and data accessibility

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience in Data Engineering and cloud-based data platforms

  • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts

  • Hands-on experience with Spark, Azure Databricks, and distributed data processing technologies

  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases

  • Strong proficiency in Python for data manipulation and processing

  • Deep understanding of data architecture, scalability, security principles, and best practices

  • Experience implementing or contributing to Data Governance frameworks

  • Good communication skills and strong English proficiency
